Google Panda was initially launched in February 2011 as Google’s algorithmic response to poor quality and duplicated content sites which had gained high rankings in the search results.

Due to this Panda algorithm the small businesses were particularly the most affected. It greatly decreased their search visibility when compared to larger or well-known brand sites which Google seemed to favor more. One such example is for product related searches where sites like eBay and Amazon or other large retailers dominate the search results and smaller sites from the same niche can’t compete even if they offer good prices or better services.

Google has done it yet again. And this time it has updated its page layout algorithm, which downgrades the rankings of web pages which are considered to be “top-heavy” with ads. This includes web pages with too many ads “above the fold” and at the top of the page, and also the pages which have overly distracting ads.

If you thought that link building was dead, then well, you’re probably wrong. It is very much alive and is still as meaningful and valuable as it was, and yes, it still works. It is just that Google has finally taken steps to prevent crappy links from being valued in its algorithm. Because of this, many SEOs started panicking and declared link building as dead. Twitter is apparently testing out a new profile redesign which somewhat resembles Facebook. The revamped tweet stream is also a different approach from its signature look. The new redesign has put more focus on photos and content cards. Just like Facebook, Twitter is giving users’ header photos a lot more space while shifting the profile pictures and biography to the left.
